Alice Ice Cream Bar and La Botanica Organica in Playa Chiquita are both closed.
And I’m the owner of a new place in Puerto Viejo, Puerto&Co that is a vegan cafe and coworking space.

Hi Brittany – I personally don’t ever take my camera with me if I’d have to leave it unattended on the beach. I personally just always assume that all beaches are prone to theft. The cycle ride isn’t too long so depending how long you have, I’d probably do the cycle ride without it and enjoy yourself at the beach without worrying, and then go back on a second day to a few scenic spots for photos. We personally didn’t have any issues with theft or see anything like his in Puerto Viejo, but I’m sure it’s possible that it happens from time to time.

I am a solo traveler and have read that there have been issues with robberies in the area in the past. It makes it difficult to go swimming or relax on the beach when I would have to constantly be watching my stuff. What would your advice be?
