Food can be one of the biggest pull factors when choosing your next travel destination. After all, going travelling is a great time to try different foods and discover new recipes. You are bound to try new veggie delights which you might never have tried before.
From crusty French baguettes and sweet almond croissants, to vegan bowls and rye bread in Berlin, I absolutely love eating in different countries around Europe. But where to go can be a tough decision with so many amazing countries for food.
With Europe being a great place to start, here are some European destinations which will make your veggie taste buds come alive.
Paris, France
I dream of French patisseries stacked with croissants when I’m travelling. There’s nowhere better to eat French pastries than in Paris. The French are famous for their croissants and pain au chocolat, which are so good for breakfast. As for a sweet treat, you can’t go wrong in Paris by trying a delicious crepe. You can find these around every corner, and they are fantastic to enjoy as a mid-afternoon treat. You will just have to make the tough decision about what to have in the crepe. And let’s not forgot about the bread. French baguettes will leave your mouth watering long after they’ve been eaten! If you’re vegan, check out this great vegan food guide to Paris.

Venice, Italy
Italy is home to some of the most popular cuisines around the world. Pasta and pizza are at the top of many people’s favourite food list – and you can’t get pasta and pizza like the Italians do it outside of Italy. When you are tucking into these delights while in Italy, you are bound to get a truly authentic experience. You should consider going to the watery destination of Venice if you want to find some great pizzas. They are made traditionally in a fire pit to ensure you have a rustic pizza. If you are going for a pasta dish, make sure you try a traditional arrabbiata sauce which is delicious to consume. You can even find some form of Italy touring holiday which will ensure you get to the very best local Italian restaurants. Vegans can have a great time in Italy too, as just ask vegan travel bloggers Dale and Franca who live in Italy.

Brighton, UK
Our current hometown of Brighton is awesome for vegetarians. The Brighton Lanes are jam-packed with some of the best veggie food there is – just thinking about it now gets my mouth watering. If you want to eat cheap, then Pompoko, the Japanese food place, is where you can get a bowl of white rice and honey tofu for £5. Milk, No Sugar is our bolthole for comforting Vietnamese pho and coffee. Don’t forget about falafel though. Brighton has some first class falafel at both We <3 Falafel and FilFil Cafe. There’s so much amazing, international veggie and vegan food here that I could go on about it forever! Check out our Brighton vegetarian guide.

Berlin, Germany
Berlin is my favourite veggie food destination in Europe! We loved our green travel trip in Berlin and ate more veggie and vegan food than you can imagine. Berlin’s vegan scene has absolutely exploded. We hit up our vegan travelling blogging friends to find the best vegan fast food in Berlin and the best vegan restaurants across the city. My hands-down favourite was The Bowl which smelled like coconut oil everywhere and where I got to eat a fresh, clean veggie bowl. Luke liked the more grungy Emma Pea just across the road which serves up curries, burgers, fries and such.

Santorini, Greece
I’ve only been to the Greek island of Corfu, where I spent my days eating juicy watermelon and salty Greek salads. But I’ve heard such good things about Santorini. Many people have told me that the whitewashed buildings make it one of the most beautiful places in the world. As for the food, you can expect more delicious feta cheese here too. Vegetarians will also love to try courgette balls which apparently have the veggies oozing out when you bite into them. I can’t wait to check out the vegetarian-friendly restaurants in Santorini someday.

Other Veggie-Friendly Destinations in Europe
There are so many amazing veggie destinations in Europe. We were surprised to discover that Sofia in Bulgaria and Macedonia were really good for vegetarian and vegan travellers.
