Picture this: Love & Apples in a Hertfordshire Village, England

With so many ethical questions over commercial Valentine’s gifts in the UK, including the unethical sourcing of red roses and poor treatment of flower pickers, and the usual conundrum of how fairtrade the chocolates really are, Croxley Green are offering a crunchy, quirky alternative. Apples with I LOVE YOU stencilled on are being sold across the road at my local green grocers. The mark-up is more than your average braeburn, but not nearly as much as that of red roses and tacky cards.
