After hours hiking through endless white, a small settlement appears in the distance. The route through the Tatra Mountains in the south of Poland is surrounded by tall pine trees, the sky is covered with white cloud, and the path is barely visible under the snow. At times, the path is so steep and the rocks so slick with ice that you have to scramble your way up inch-by-inch. There is no one else around for miles. Eventually, there is both relief and disbelief, when you finally reach this small shelter called Murowaniec.
